Srinagar, Dec 16 (KNO): A few days after a video about dangerous car stunts on Srinagar roads went viral on social media, police on Tuesday traced the vehicle and its owner.
Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that SSP Traffic Srinagar, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, took swift cognisance of the viral clip and summoned the vehicle owner for counselling.
“The individual was counselled and advised not to indulge in such reckless acts in the future. The vehicle involved was also seized as per procedure,” the official said.
Speaking to KNO, the SSP Traffic Srinagar said the police’s approach in such cases is to reform rather than punish. “Our aim is to guide young drivers and make them understand the risks associated with such stunts. We want them to become responsible citizens and ambassadors of safe driving,” he said.
Moreover, in a follow-up video message, the youth thanked the SSP Traffic for his guidance. “I am very thankful to SSP Traffic Srinagar Ajaz Ahmad Bhat sahib for counselling me and advising me not to repeat such acts,” he said.
Police have appealed to the public, particularly youth, to avoid rash driving or stunts that could endanger lives and disrupt traffic movement—(KNO)
